On 20th June 2018, UNITED released a list of the 34,361 people who have lost their lives when trying to migrate around Europe between 1993 and 2019. This list documents their name, the date they died and, their cause of death. Many deaths are documented as ‘Nomen Nescio’ which is
used to signify an anonymous or unnamed person.
I used this list to create a website that displays death records in my lifetime (from 1998-2019). It aims to make people aware of the sheer number of people who lose their lives when desperately trying to migrate to Europe. This project was created during my degree at UWE, Bristol.
